The Denam Charity Foundation, an arm of The Denam Group—whose business interests span real estate, facility management, engineering and construction, healthcare, and hospitality—has donated food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking during the outreach, the Head of Human Resources, Kate Tijani, said the gesture aligns with the foundation’s mission to support health, dignity, and survival among underserved populations, especially during the festive season when many families experience heightened economic hardship.

“We are here to put smiles on people’s faces because during this Christmas period, not everyone can afford basic food items,” she said. “So we asked ourselves how we could support them and ease their burden. That was why we decided to provide 100 families with food and relief items.”

Tijani added that the foundation invested millions in the project.

On the increasing insecurity across the country, particularly threats faced by schoolchildren, she urged the government to strengthen security measures nationwide.

“Security is the major challenge. All schools should have strong security structures that can guide and protect children. When they know the government has their backs, they can settle down and learn in peace,” she said.

At the Durumi IDP camp, the donation was received with deep appreciation. The Woman Leader of the camp, Liyatu Yusuf, described the intervention as a timely blessing.

“Today is like Christmas day for us. Now we know we will celebrate well. They reminded us that Christmas is around the corner. The Denam Charity Foundation did this for us,” she said.

Yusuf noted that although the camp hosts about 3,500 IDPs, a total of 350 households and camp leaders benefitted from the distribution.

Offering prayers for the foundation, she added:“I tell them thank you very much. May Almighty God bless them, carry them forward, and provide for them. May God strengthen and empower them.”

Food items distributed included 10kg bags of rice, seasoning cubes, groundnut oil, and sachets of tomato paste.
