The Nasiru Haladu Danu Foundation (NHD) has donated N5 million to Malami Academy in Nasarawa State to support the education of less-privileged students.

Making the donation yesterday in Abuja, the Sardaunan Dutse, Alhaji Nasiru Danu, who chairs the foundation, complemented the financial contribution with educational materials, including copies of the autobiography of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

While presenting the donations, Danu reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the academy in advancing its educational mission.

“We have 50 copies (of the book) here, and we intend to share with other institutions. In recognition of the good work that you are doing in giving back to society, my foundation will also donate N5 million to support the poorest of the poor. This can be used to fund more scholarships through your transparent selection process.

“We will continue to work and partner with you,” he said.

An associate of Danu, Mr. Apovi Uyo, who witnessed the donation, commended the academy for raising future leaders by providing quality education to underprivileged students.

He also thanked Alhaji Haladu Danu for his laudable support, describing it as a contribution that would further strengthen the academy’s work.

“Countries are optimising their resources while we are dissipating ours. This is a turning point where we must begin to make sacrifices, and it starts with initiatives like this—identifying gifted children who cannot afford school fees, nurturing them in an academy, and returning them to society as better people,” he said.

In appreciation, the founder of Malami Academy, Mr. Malami Uba Saidu, praised the gesture, noting that the books would enrich students’ learning experience while the financial support would reinforce the academy’s mission of providing quality education and leadership training to indigent students.

“The academy’s mission is to provide free, quality education to underprivileged children. We believe one person can change society. Currently, we have 243 students, and we look forward to more partnerships with your foundation,” he said.

Malami Academy, Nasarawa, is a philanthropic secondary school and leadership academy dedicated to educating indigent students.
