Cornerstone Insurance Plc Foundation has donated a solar-powered borehole to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the Jabi area of the FCT as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting communities and organisations.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Group at Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Cordelia Ekeocha, said the gesture was in line with the company’s commitment to ensuring access to clean water in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“At Cornerstone Insurance Plc Foundation, we believe that all our initiatives should have a lasting impact on the lives of beneficiaries. Our CSR initiative of providing solar-powered boreholes is focused on ensuring access to clean and sustainable water,” she said.

Ekeocha noted that access to clean water remains a major challenge in many Nigerian communities, adding that the solar-powered borehole would provide a reliable and cost-effective source of clean water.

She explained that the project was designed to provide safe, clean and accessible water to rural and peri-urban communities while promoting the use of renewable energy for sustainable community infrastructure.

According to her, the initiative would also help improve public health by reducing waterborne diseases associated with unsafe water sources.

Also speaking, the Director of Technical Services at the NDLEA, DCG Ambrose Umoru, who represented the agency’s Chairman, Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the Foundation for the gesture.

He said the borehole would go a long way in providing clean water for the agency at little or no cost.
