In its effort to reduce poverty among youth, Al-Ikhlas a Kano based foundation has donated eight tricycles to some youths in the state.
Donating the tricycles to the beneficiaries, the chairman of the foundation who is the accountant general of the federation Alhaji Ahmad Idris said the gesture was aimed at reducing poverty among the teeming unemployed youth in the state.
Represented by Alhaji Balarabe Idris Daneji, the chairman said his foundation would soon come up with other empowerment programmes for women and youth. He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the tricycles.
Earlier in his remark, the special guest of honor, Minister of Interior AbdurRahman Bello Dambazau, represented by Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbilki commander said Al-Ikhlas foundation had been assisting youth in various ways, citing as example payment of JAMB fees for 28 students and training of over 200 youth.
“Currently the foundation is training over 200 youth on different skills acquisition with the intention of giving them seed money to establish their businesses,” he said.
He promised that the ministry would provide more jobs to unemployed youth in parastatals under its offices such as immigration.
