No fewer than 100 residents of Dakwa community have been empowered with sewing machines and starter kits by the Fountain Humanitarian Foundation to support their transition into self-reliance.

The beneficiaries, trained in tailoring over six months, received the equipment during a weekend ceremony held in Dakwa, a border community near Bwari Area Council of the FCT, under Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

Head of the foundation, Muhammad Zunurain, said the initiative was implemented in partnership with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), focusing on education and humanitarian support.

He explained that participants drawn from vulnerable groups, including unemployed graduates and school dropoutswere selected to equip them with sustainable livelihoods.

According to him, 20 high-performing trainees received industrial sewing machines, while the remaining 80 were given manual machines, all complemented with essential working tools.

One of the beneficiaries, Fatima Abubakar, said the training covered both male and female clothing, expressing plans to establish a tailoring workshop with colleagues.

Also speaking, the Ward Head of Unguwar Tudun Wada, Nura Rabiu, commended the foundation for its continued interventions in the community.
