An FCT-based education foundation, Teach the Child Initiative, is set to expand its teaching techniques on pupils with poor performance in government-owned basic schools in the FCT. The founder of the NGO, Pearl Utuk, while speaking at a one-day education summit orgainsed by the foundation on Friday in Abuja, said selected pupils were provided with extra classes using innovative tools like talking books and pens, as well as board games.
She disclosed the plan of the foundation to expand the gesture to many public schools in the FCT through engagement of teachers and empowering them with innovative tools for the programme.

An education inspector with the Bwari Area Council, Abubakar Deshino, who commended the programme, said there was tremendous improvement among benefiting pupils, as well as their teachers, charging the organisers to reach out to more schools within the council.
