No fewer than 80 widows in Osun State have received food assistance through the Operation Feed the Widows initiative of the UncleBright Foundation.

The beneficiaries, drawn from various communities across the state, were provided with food items as part of efforts to ease their living conditions and offer support during difficult times.

Speaking at the launch of the 2026 edition of the programme, the foundation’s coordinator, Oluwasegun Taiwo, said the initiative was conceived to bring relief and happiness to widows while promoting compassion and care for vulnerable members of society.

Taiwo noted that the programme has remained consistent since its inception and has continued to impact the lives of widows through food and cash support.

“This 2026 edition of Operation Feed the Widows is the sixth of its kind. The initiative began in 2020, and since then, we have consistently supported widows with cash donations and food items. Our goal is to put smiles on their faces and remind them that they are not forgotten,” he said.

He stressed the need for greater collaboration from individuals and organisations to enable the foundation to reach more vulnerable people.

The foundation consequently appealed to well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and philanthropists to support the initiative.

He said increased backing would help expand its reach and deepen its impact across the country.

According to Taiwo, additional support would enable the foundation to assist more disadvantaged widows and other vulnerable persons in different parts of Nigeria.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful amid prevailing economic challenges.

They thanked the foundation for the gesture adding that the assistance would help ease some of their immediate needs.
