At least 800 junior secondary school students in Ogun state have been given writing materials and bags by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Great Minds Connect Educational and Empowerment Foundation.

Speaking during the donation at Igbore High School, Junior, Igbore, Abeokuta, President of the foundation, Dr Oluwafunmilayo Oluwatosin who spoke virtually, said the GMC foundation is focused on assisting the less privileged young adults to access quality and affordable education. 

“I believe everyone should have access to some basic things and it’s painful to me each time I see students going to school without uniform, carrying education materials in polythene bags, going to school with slippers, going to school empty stomach,” she noted.

The Programme Coordinator, Tolulope Ogunsanya said over 3,000 exercise books and 100 bags were distributed to the students. 

She said: “We must encourage the less privileged to learn because education is key, and we need to erase the idea that education is a scam.”

The Principal, Mrs Muibat Adenokun, applauded the NGO for the donation, saying it would impact positively on the learning of the students.
