The Unique Precious Care Foundation (UPCF) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service as it hosted the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party and Back-to-School Empowerment Programme, bringing joy, hope, and educational support to over 100 vulnerable children drawn from orphanage homes across Akwa Ibom State.

The event, which held in a colourful and heart-warming atmosphere, was chaired by the Founder and Chairperson of the Foundation, Pastor (Mrs) Florence Umana, who described the programme as a reflection of the Foundation’s core values of compassion, service, and social responsibility.

In her welcome address, Pastor Umana noted that the Foundation, which has operated for over 25 years, was established with a singular vision of caring for humanity, particularly children, women, and other underprivileged groups. She explained that what began as a personal passion to help has grown into a formally registered and structured foundation with far-reaching impact.

Over the years, she said, the Foundation has touched numerous lives through scholarship awards, financial assistance to students, payment of hospital bills, provision of medical supplies, sponsorship of critical surgeries, visits to orphanage homes, and empowerment programmes for women across the state.

Highlighting the significance of the programme, Pastor Umana stressed that Christmas represents a season of love and giving, while education remains a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. She stated that the Back-to-School Empowerment Programme was designed to ensure that children from vulnerable backgrounds are given the opportunity to return to school with dignity and renewed confidence.

She disclosed that beneficiaries of the programme were drawn from four orphanage homes, namely: Mother Charles Walker Children’s Home, Anua (Uyo LGA); Friends of the Needy Foster Home, Okobo LGA; Motherless Babies Home, Mkpok (Onna LGA); and Holy Family Sisters of the Needy Orphanage, Ikpe Ikot Ankon (Ini LGA).

According to her, it is a long-standing tradition of the Foundation to celebrate with children in orphanage homes in the same manner as biological children, reassuring them of love, acceptance, and hope for a brighter future.

Pastor Umana expressed profound appreciation to her husband and chief supporter, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, as well as volunteers, partners, donors, and well-wishers whose consistent support has sustained the Foundation’s humanitarian efforts over the years. She also thanked parents, guardians, and special guests for honouring the invitation and supporting the cause.

Addressing the children, she encouraged them to dream big, remain focused, and pursue excellence through education, assuring them of the Foundation’s belief in their potential.

The event featured goodwill messages, distribution of educational materials and gifts, and a festive celebration that left smiles on the faces of the children, further reinforcing the Foundation’s mission of creating lasting and meaningful impact in society.
