The Ramadan Trust Initiative (RTI), a charitable organisation in Kano, has broadened its mission to provide year-round aid to the less fortunate.

RTI’s chairman, Ahmed Yakasai, at this year’s Ramadan donation, explained that the initiative, which began nearly a decade ago by distributing food to the needy during Ramadan, has grown thanks to increased donor support.

He said RTI is now committed to offering humanitarian assistance throughout the year.

“Our mission is to help the poor and vulnerable not just in Ramadan, but at all times. We aim to show kindness and generosity to those in need,” Yakasai said.

He said RTI has provided financial support to 100 individuals—60 women and 40 men—to foster sustainable livelihoods.

Yakasai thanked the organisation’s donors, saying with donations continuing to rise, the initiative aims to increase financial assistance to N50,000 per person next year, from the current N30,000.

He said RTI collaborates with trusted community organisations, including prominent orphans and widow associations, to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable and helps sustain its mission to bring relief, empowerment, and dignity to those in need across Nigeria.
