The Feed One Million Kids campaign, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Abuja Aso-Golf, marked Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day with an outreach event at LEA Primary School, Wuse II, Abuja.

The initiative, themed “Balanced Nutrition and Basic Education,” provided meals, drinks, and gift packs to hundreds of schoolchildren. Organizers said the effort was aimed at addressing child hunger while highlighting the role of education in shaping the future of Nigerian youth.

Founder of the End Hunger Humanitarian Initiative and convener of the campaign, Dr. Emem Aniekanabasi Alban, said the programme sought to restore dignity and opportunity to disadvantaged children.
“We are not just filling stomachs; we are restoring dignity, planting seeds of hope, and opening doors to opportunity,” she said.

Speakers at the event included Dr. Maureen Omolola Chukwurah, Dr. Lizzy Ulumaranma Asomugha, Rotarian Chisom, and Rotarian Adefunke Oluwatoyin Oni, who all underscored the importance of nutrition and education in securing a brighter future for the country’s youth.

In addition to the school outreach, meals were distributed to underprivileged people on nearby streets and to detainees at the Zone 3 Police Station in Abuja, reflecting the organisers’ commitment to inclusive impact.

The Feed One Million Kids campaign operates under the End Hunger Humanitarian Initiative, founded by Dr. Alban and supported by international partners, including the United Nations, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme. The campaign works to provide sustainable nutrition for children across Nigeria and Africa while advocating for access to education and improved living conditions.

The Rotary Club of Abuja Aso-Golf partnered in this year’s outreach, supporting the campaign’s goal of tackling child hunger and inequality through community-driven interventions.
