The exercise attracted many people from the community including women and children.
Explaining the essence of the exercise, Professor Auwalu Yadudu said it was primarily to create awareness about liver disease and to provide assistance.
“It is an annual event and this year’s workshop is the sixth one,” he said.
He added that what they do every year was to invite a speaker who will address the issues of Liver disease and preventive measures and at the end of the lecture, opportunities are given to interested people to submit to screening for any of the virus that may lead to Liver disease.
On her part, the leader of the screening team, Dr Mariya Mahmud of Dept of Family Medicine, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital said the exercise was a huge success because they were able to screen many people and found them prone to reaction to Hepatitis.
In addition to the screening, free consultations for other ailments were also provided where people with hypertension were sensitized and also referred to General hospitals for proper evaluation. Free medication was also provided for simple ailments.
