At least 30 secondary schools students from Garko, Takai and Kunchi local government areas of Kano state have enjoyed scholarship from a non-governmental organisation, Victims of Child Abuse Foundation (VCAF).

Presenting the cash of N30,000 each to the beneficiaries in Kafin-Malamai, Garko local government, Chairman of the Foundation, General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd), said the money was for the payment of qualify examination of the students.

Represented by Professor Tajuddeen Akinje of University of Ibadan, General Dambazau said the foundation had also donated books, building materials, furniture and writing materials worth millions of naira to some selected secondary schools in the three local governments.

Dambazau, who is also the minister of interior, said the gesture was meant to assist the education of less privileged, noting the foundation was paying the society what it offered to the founders of the VCAF.

He assured that the foundation would continue to assist rural dwellers in the areas of education, health and agriculture with a view to improving their wellbeing.

In his remarks, the President of the Foundation, General Abdulmalik Jibril Tofawa (rtd), said the foundation was established to assist the victims of child abuse, noting that so far it had rendered assistance to thousands of such victims nationwide.

Tofawa explained that the foundation had been conducting its activities in collaboration with Huawei International Company, assuring that the foundation was determined towards assisting the less privileged in all human endeavours.

He appealed to the benefiting schools to make good use of the items, while urging the students to reciprocate the gesture by paying attention to their studies.
