Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria (HERFON) Kaduna State Chapter has called on Governor Nasir El-Rufai to consider the domestication of Nigeria’s National Health Act (2014) for Kaduna State, saying it will develop the entire health systems in the state.
Briefing newsmen in Kaduna, the state chairman of the foundation, Malam Lawal Abubakar said  the domestication of the act will equally facilitate the state access to health care fund by the federal government.
He also called on the governor to consider the passage of the Free Maternal & Child Health Bill and signing it into law in order to improve access to health services by the most vulnerable groups in the state.
Abubakar said the foundation believes that when the financial situation in the state improves the governor may wish to commence the provision of free essential health care for the elderly above the age of 70 years including people living in absolute poverty and the socially marginalized groups such as people living with disabilities.
He noted that this will also increase access to health care services and contribute in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Kaduna State.
