The Cancynic Charity Foundation has sensitised women in the Lugbe community  in the FCT on cancer.

The foundation sensitized the women on ways to protect themselves from cancer, particularly breast and cervical cancers.

Speaking during the exercise, the foundation, led by its 15-year-old founder, Divine Ehidiamhen, emphasised the need for early detection, preventive strategies, timely medical treatment and how to identify symptoms early.

Divine also highlighted the availability and benefits of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, encouraging the women to vaccinate their children between the ages of nine and 16 at government health centres.

She said the sensitisation exercise was aimed at tackling the mortality rate associated with cancer in Nigeria, adding that she experienced profound loss with the passing of a close aunt from cancer.

While saying she had committed herself to enhancing cancer awareness and healthcare initiatives in Nigeria, she said the foundation’s mission is to improve cancer care and provide educational opportunities in Nigeria.

She called on the federal government to increase support and healthcare infrastructure for cancer in order to combat rising cases.

The foundation also offered full primary education scholarships to six orphans at the Gifted and Talented Orphanage in Lugbe.

The foundation also donated textbooks, food items and also educated the children on the value of education as part of their cancer awareness and sensitisation exercise.
