Foundation to give N1.8m to 20 parent writers

The sustainable Arts Foundation is offering $5000 (N1.8m) to 20 writers and artists with children. This is to help creative parents with costs of child care, workspaces, new equipment, research and travel. 

To be eligible to apply for a grant, candidates must have at least one child under the age of 18.  Applicants can be based anywhere in the world and there are no citizenship restrictions.

Writers may apply in one of the following categories: Creative nonfiction, early and middle grade fiction, fiction, graphic novel, long form journalism, picture books, playwriting, poetry, young adult fiction, and visual artists. 

The Sustainable Arts Foundation was founded in 2010 with the aim of encouraging parents to continue pursuing their creative passion, and to rekindle it in those who may have let it slide. The awards are offered as unrestricted cash, and recipients can use the funds as they see fit.

Applicants can be based anywhere in the world and there are no citizenship restrictions. Also, the awards offer unrestricted cash, and recipients can use the funds as they see fit. 

Selection process is focused almost entirely on the strength of the submitted portfolio. Artists and writers with at least one child and a strong portfolio of polished work are encouraged to apply.
