Foundation trains police officers on election security management

Cleen foundation has trained police officers on election security management ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Addressing participants during the two-day training, the Executive Director of the foundation, Dr. Benson Olugbuo, said the training was in line with the foundation’s mission of promoting public safety, security and justice through strategies of research, legislative advocacy and demonstration programmes in partnership with government agencies, civil society and the private sector.

Represented by the foundation’s Assistant Programme Manager, Mr Oluwale Ojawale, Dr. Olugbuo stated that participants were drawn from North-western states.

He said the foundation was mindful of the challenges facing the police as a law enforcement agency saddled with responsibility of ensuring that law and order were respected.

The representative of Resident Electoral Commissioner, Malam Muhammad Sani Muhammad, said the training was apt considering the key role the police play in electioneering processes.

He the urged participants to ensure that they share the knowledge they had acquired during the training with their colleagues who would participate in the 2019 general elections.
