Some youths have been empowered with free vocational skills by the Tanimu Foundation in the North Bank community of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State.

Apart from the skills acquisition, 20 others got cash and scholarship awards to enhance their education in various tertiary institutions.

Founder of Tanimu Foundation and medical practitioner based in the United States of America (USA), Prof. Sabo Tanimu, has consistently shown the gesture in the State.

Speaking at this year’s event, the Foundation’s Director of Finance and Operation, Khalid Omeje, enjoined individuals and governments to support the founder, noting that the Foundation now has a new programme.

He said, “The new programme entails an award of cash of N25,000 to 10 deserving youth who applied for training in the Vocational training centre of the Foundation but couldn’t get it due to limited space, they can use it for the training somewhere else.

“Under the new programme, school fees of some students of tertiary institutions were paid. A link to Scholarship Award for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies abroad was also set up in the centre for those seeking admission,” he said.

Meanwhile, those who completed their vocational training under the foundation were awarded certificates and new sewing machines while cash awards of N25,000 each were given to 20 beneficiaries.
