An Islamic group, Rafeeqee Foundation, has called on Muslims to provide more financial supports to mosques to enable them to fulfil their purposes and mandates.

The foundation’s founder, Modinat Lawal-Famuditimi, in a statement, decried that many Central mosques in Nigeria were cash-starved and could barely carry out their obligations to fully run as a place of worship.

She lamented that it was tough for some mosques to attend to the needs of the community.

“The work of empowering Central Mosques in Nigeria as a whole falls on every Muslims home and abroad” she added.

She said that the foundation, in 2019, partnered several mosques in Nigeria to feed over 1,000 poor and vulnerable Muslims, as part of its efforts to bring succour to the less privileged.
