Speaking at an election sensitisation workshop organised by the foundation in Kaduna, its president, retired Captain Manasseh Haruna, said their major aim was to sensitise and enlighten the rural dwellers on the need to elect capable leaders who will do all they can to tackle hunger and always put food on their table.
He said the occasion was not sponsored by any political party neither was it aimed at garnering support for any candidate or political party, adding that the goal of the foundation is to empower the less privileged and rural dwellers so that they can be useful to themselves and the society in this political dispensation.
The guest speaker, Professor Andrew Nkom, tasked the people to elect only those who will give them the dividends of democracy and boost agriculture in creative ways, noting that agriculture is still the bedrock of the economy and their voters’ cards are all they need to vote in leaders with such qualities.
He cautioned the participants against desperate politicians who will want to buy their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for their selfish reasons and therefore disenfranchise them.
