The Preservation Foundation is hosting an essay contest open to all writers around the world who are previously unpublished.

The contest has five different categories. Four of them offer a $200 first place prize, and a $100 second place prize. The fifth category offers just one $200 prize.

Each prize category has a separate deadline. Two of the deadlines have already passed, but three are still accepting submissions.

In the general fiction category, which closes April 30, any appropriate nonfiction topic is eligible and stories must be true, not semi-fictional accounts. Creative nonfiction will not be considered.

A biographical entry (deadline, June 30) must be a true story of an individual(s) known to the author personally, not a fictional or historical character. Autobiography must be a true story about the author’s life, the whole or an episode.

Travel nonfiction (August 31) should be factual and true accounts of a trip taken by the author or a person or persons known by the author.

The Preservation Foundation is a non-profit publisher established in 1976.
