The Association of African Students in India (AASI) has awarded Hajia Fatima Fuad Hashim, founder of Open Diaries Foundation, a Humanitarian Award for her efforts in supporting the community.

The association’s Executive Adviser and former President, Ambassador Faruk Alkali, led the delegation to present the award at a dinner reception in Kano.

Ambassador Alkali stated that the association gives awards to deserving individuals, highlighting Hajia Fatima’s philanthropic work in building water wells and distributing food to the less privileged as the reasons for the award.

According to Ambassador Alkali, the award is usually presented in India during AASI’s yearly graduation ceremony of African students across the continent. However, Hajia Fatima requested permission for her family to attend the ceremony in Kano.

In her acceptance speech, Hajia Fatima Fuad Hashim thanked Almighty God for the honor and expressed gratitude to her husband, Alhaji Baffa Ibrahim, for his support and care.
