At least four people have been killed by armed invaders in an attack along Aila-Odugheho road of Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State.
Residents told our correspondent on Sunday that the victims were ambushed on Saturday along the rural road and killed by their assailants.
The locals identified the deceased victims as Ochefije Elijah Ojema,
Igojuju Husaini, Odiya Ochowechi and Ochoyoda Adejo.
Chairman of Agatu LGA, Melvin Ejeh, confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi.

He said, “Because of the robust security strategies we have put on the ground in the community, it’s now difficult to attack and overrun any community in Agatu LGA, hence they resort to ambush which is a little more complex to confront.
“However, clearance operation are currently ongoing to rid the community forest of the bandits. Security agencies including the DPO himself, local vigilantes are already in the area carrying out clearance operations.”
Spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, said she was yet to get the report from the divisional officer at the time of filling this report.
