The beneficiaries are Aka Tochukwu Victory, a 400-level student of Biochemical Engineering of University of Nigeria Nssuka, Eze Benjamin 500-level of Medi-Surgery Department of Imo State University, Iruke Kingsley, a 400-level petro-chemical engineering student and Obasi Emeka, 500-level petro-chemical engineering student from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
Speaking in Abuja at the launch of the scheme and presentation of award, the Director of African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development, Dr. Otive Igbuzor said the scheme was conceptualised to help brilliant students.
The Director of AYGF Dr. Arome Salifu said the foundation, having identified some challenge in the education sector, introduced the scheme to help students.
He said the scheme was geared towards reducing student’s involvement in social vices such as prostitutions, robbery and drug addictions.
“They can leverage on this scheme to fund their education as against involving in the social vices,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries Aka Tochukwu said that the scholarship would bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by supporting the indigent but brilliant students to continue with their education.
