A Nigerian film maker and Lagos socialite, Olajide Oluwaseun Karrem alias Seun Egbegbe on Wednesday failed to secure his freedom as a Federal High Court in Lagos further remanded him in prison’s custody till next Tuesday when his bail application would be entertained.

Seun Egbegbe was last Friday arraigned alongside one Oyekan Ayomide before the court for allegedly defrauding some Bureau De Change (BDC) Operators in Lagos.

The men of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) of Lagos State Police Command Panti-Yaba, had arraigned him and his accomplice on 36 counts charge of the alleged crime.

In the charge marked FHC/L/40c/2017, the two fraud suspects were alleged to have between 2016 and February 2, 2017, defrauded BDC Operators at various places in Lagos State to the tune of N40.647 million; $29, 800, 00; and £4, 815 United Kingdom Pounds Sterling.

They had pleaded not guilty and were subsequently remanded in prison by the trial judge, Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, lawyer to the accused, Miss. A. O. Gbadamoshi, told the court that she had filed the bail applications of the accused and had served same on the police on Tuesday.

But the police prosecutor, Mr. Innocent Anyigor told the court that he was unable to file a counter to the applications, as he was only given the accused applications in the office on Wednesday morning.

The prosecutor urged the court for a short adjournment date to enable him reply to the accused persons’ bail applications.

Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Oguntoyinbo, ordered that Seun Egbegbe and his accomplice be returned to the prison’s custody while she adjourned the hearing of their bail applications till February 21, 2017.
