Duker told Weekend Magazine that “I had always said I’d step aside for a change in the leadership structure of AIFF after the 10th edition so that we can have another direction for the festival but with the same vision of the founders. It’s basically an overhaul of the system with a view to taking it beyond where I have taken it in 10 years.
 “The choice of Fred Amata is simply based on his competence and creative ingenuity which I know he will bring to bear in the coming years,” he said.
Duker who was Director of the Festival for 10 years, said the appointment is   permanent, adding that “with a probational period in the contract but I can assure you that Fred is one of the most creative people you can find in Nollywood today and with his vast experience in film and TV, he will be of immense value to the Festival.”
Amata is a widely acclaimed actor and filmmaker known for his roles in ‘Ripples’, ‘Light and Darkness’ and ‘Mortal Inheritance,’ which earned him the 1997 Best Nigerian actor award.
