In a move aimed at bridging the digital divide among underprivileged children, Lexis Development Company Ltd has launched a free technology empowerment program for orphans and disadvantaged youth in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

The initiative, led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Alexander Ogbeh, seeks to equip young participants with vital technology skills that can enable them to thrive in today’s digital world.

The program, which began with outreach to several orphanage homes across Ajah, selected children and young adults with an interest in technology for intensive training. Participants received hands-on lessons in WordPress development, website management, and other foundational digital skills.

Several participants have successfully graduated from the initial WordPress training phase, marking an important step toward their digital empowerment. The company also confirmed that additional training in web design, UI/UX, and software development is currently ongoing.

As part of its support for continuous learning, Lexis Development donated free laptops to the graduating participants, giving them the tools to practice their new skills, take on freelance projects, and pursue further education in technology.

Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, CEO Alexander Ogbeh said, “At Lexis Development, we believe technology should be a bridge, not a barrier. This initiative reflects our commitment to creating equal access to opportunities, particularly for children and teenagers who may not otherwise have access to the tools and training that can transform their lives.”

The entire program was provided at no cost to participants or orphanage homes, fully funded by Lexis Development as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive to promote innovation, skill development, and digital inclusion among Nigeria’s youth.

By investing in the education of orphans and vulnerable young people, the company is not only expanding Nigeria’s digital talent pool but also championing technology-driven social inclusion.

Lexis Development has expressed plans to extend the initiative to other parts of Lagos and subsequently across Nigeria, with the aim of training hundreds more young people for careers in technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
