French Village, DTCA partner on capacity building

The Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV), Lagos, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA) to foster development and integration through language capacity building in the African continent.

A statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Protocol and Public Relations, Festus Osemwegei Okundia, said the agreement signed by the two bodies would basically include educational and technical partnership relating to language capacity building, data sharing, experts recruitment, research and consultancy services.

The two agencies are also expected to facilitate the recognition of the NFLV as a Regional Centre of Excellence in capacity building relating to foreign languages, particularly French.

“They shall jointly organize conferences, symposia, seminars and workshops as well as provide translation and interpretation services,” the statement said.

It further said while it was agreed that the village shall provide staff training for the directorate, it would in turn enjoy capacity building across African through the use of the directorates’ contacts with relevant institutions worldwide.
