Friends remanded in prison for robbing petrol stations

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Tumfure Quarters of Gombe metropolis has remanded three friends in prison custody over alleged criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.  

The accused persons, Ahmed Inuwa (28) of Malam Goje Quarters, Bauchi, Abdulrasheed Suleiman (27) of Mabera, Sokoto State and Mohammed Bukar (30) of Lafiya Lamurde LGA of Adamawa State, were arrested by the police for allegedly conspiring with their friend, Babangida Bukar, now at large, armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons to rob four filling stations in Gombe metropolis.

Police prosecuting officer, Inspector Habibu Danjuma, told the court that the accused persons had on June 10, 14, 24 and August 14, 2017 between 2am and 4pm each day, allegedly broke into Ummoda, Almanas, MRS and Oando filling stations, respectively.

The police First Information Report (FIR) stated that the accused persons took the sum of N70, 000, two laptop computers worth N180, 000, three Apple laptops worth N450, 000 and 10 pairs of shoes worth N150, 000 at the MRS filling station.

They also took away N20, 000; N450, 000 and N62, 000 at Ummoda, Almanas and Oando filling stations, respectively, after beating the watchmen of the filling stations to pulp.

The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In view of their statement, the prosecutor applied for adjournment to enable police conclude the ongoing investigation.

The Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida granted the application and adjourned the case to September 29 and ordered all the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody.
