We specially congratulate the Sultan of Sokoto, President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islam in Africa as well as the Jama’atul Nasir Islam. Our prayer to God for you all is that you will have a peaceful Ramadan and that God’s barakah will descend on you all and the members of your families.
As you continue with this obligatory duty, we plead with you all to remember those who are suffering in many parts of the northern states as a result of religious bigotry by some of our children. We seize this opportunity during this holy month to plead that you pray for them as the prayer of a fasting person is accepted by God the Almighty. This is attested to in the following Hadith: There are three people whose supplications are not rejected: the fasting person when he breaks the fast, the just ruler and the supplication of the oppressed [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibban]  
As we have expressed to the leadership of the Muslim Umma on different occasions, the opinion people have of Muslims and Islam today is at an all time low. It is our prayer that by observing this holy month of Ramadan, the Muslim community in this country will exemplify the best of the Muslim character as they interact with the wider society. We close this piece with the usual Ramadan greetings: taqabb al-Allah ta’atakum (May God accept your deeds).
