That was a classic piece on the fraud saga. Why should people who should know did not know what transpired in the subsidy saga? It is simple. The racket is all encompassing by direct or indirect linkages. Note, the cartel is not limited to the so far indicted. Even Chairman Lawan steered revulsion in me when he was reported as brandishing a letter before the House exonerating Dankwambo of complicity in what he took active role. Can one therefore expect the unusual in a situation where the chief prosecutor is shielding a core participant in the crime? That was a big dent on the sincerity and commitment to justice by the Lawan’s committee. I had hope in him, but Wao! Hopeless. Lai Ashadele 08130479894.

Sir, If I may react to your article entitled, “Subsidy Fraud: Wao!” I would say the piece gave an in-depth analysis on the Faruk Lawam-led ad-hoc committee on subsidy scam and its shocking revelations in recent times. The committee is commendable for such outstanding job, but the question bothering many is, has government the guts to implement the recommendations of the committee, considering the calibre of individuals and agencies that were indicted?. Unless the government demonstrates some level of resoluteness in the fight against corruption, Nigeria will continue to lag behind in the areas of infrastructural and economic prosperity. Although at the tail end of the write-up, you said you spoke for yourself, actually you have spoken the mind of many Nigerians, myself included. On the other hand, the populace must rise up and elect credible leaders who have the country at heart and are willing to move us to economic prosperity and social justice. May God spare us to see the end of such numerous obstacles militating against the progress of our dear country.

Sir, I was particularly impressed with the way your piece on the subsidy probe brought attention to the very shameless way the chairman of the committee, Faruk Lawan tried to show that Gombe Governor Alhaji Damkwambo is innocent. He cannot be. If he didn’t know what was happening, it means he did not deserve his position. Let him explain how he got so much money to spend in campaign for the governorship contest of Gombe State. The same thing goes to the CBN governor and the minister of finance. They must be held accountable for any fraud in the country. One day, God will expose all of them who steal our money and use it to take care of their immediate family members.
