The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed a high-level tactical team to the A.Y.A.–Nyanya Expressway following a series of disturbing road accidents along the corridor.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, made this known in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by the Acting Corps Public Education Officer (ACPEO), Mrs. Felicia Kalu.
Mohammed stated that the team is led by the Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) in charge of Operations, Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide. According to him, the team is mandated to conduct a comprehensive on-the-spot assessment of the factors responsible for the recurring crashes and recommend swift, evidence-based remedial measures. The FRSC boss noted that the intervention underscores the Corps’ commitment to proactive road safety management, intelligence-driven enforcement, and the protection of lives and property.
He emphasized that the FRSC is focused on taking anticipatory steps to identify systemic risks, eliminate hazards, and strengthen its operational presence on critical routes, rather than merely reacting after tragedies occur.
“The A.Y.A.–Nyanya corridor, being a major gateway into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), requires strategic attention. The deployment of the tactical team reflects a zero-tolerance stance against preventable road crashes,” the Corps Marshal said. (NAN)
