The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged Nigerians to adopt the use of bicycle as official means of transportation and for being cheaper and healthy for physical wellbeing of the body.

The Sector Commander of FRSC in Bayelsa State, Mr Ibrahim Usman, stated this on Friday during the awareness ride to mark the third World Bicycle Day celebration in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Usman, who led a team of cyclists comprising officers of the corps, government officials and professionals, said that it was time to re-enact the bicycle system of transportation in Nigeria, because it had helped human civilisation for ages, starting from the 17th century.

According to him, apart from being cheaper than vehicles to acquire, bicycle is cheap to maintain and healthy for physical wellbeing of man and his environment.
