Unveiling the housing scheme in Abuja last week, Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the commission Boboye Oyeyemi said the housing scheme is the commission’s strategy to tackle the housing needs of staff “especially those who have served the FRSC meritoriously and retired with little or no prospect of owning their own personal houses after their service years.”
He said the “one staff, one house” project is to “key into the transformation agenda of the present administration in its policy of providing decent and affordable houses to Nigerians.
“That policy focus has been demonstrated through the various reforms carried out by the federal government in mortgage institutions as well as restructuring of the national housing fund to make it possible for staff who contribute to the fund to access money to finance their housing projects,” he stated.
Oyeyemi noted that the housing scheme will enable staff ,through mortgage schemes, to pay in 10 years.
He said machinery has been put in place to ensure that in the next four years, “We deliver on this promise which will be a quantum contribution to building an FRSC whose staff will be property owners.”
