FTAN informed that the two-day celebration tagged ‘Tourism Golden Jubilee Programme’ is scheduled to hold on October 9th and 10th. The programme will include a public lecture/tourism conference that will enable stakeholders brainstorm on the way forward as well as an opportunity to review the much touted Public Private Partnership (PPP) that has been canvassed in the last few years. A Variety Nite will hold day one showcasing a galaxy of popular music/ Nollywood stars, comedies, gourmet dinner, in which Tourism Merit Awards will be given in recognition of excellence in the various subsectors of the industry in the past 50 years.

 Also lined up is an International Cultural Festival (ICF) designed to showcase a global cultural mix, bringing the sights and sounds of the international community to Nigeria as it features food, fashion and other exhibitions and cultural dances on day two at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

Mr. Samuel Alabi, National President of FTAN said the aforementioned events were planned to invigorate FTAN’s role and partnership with all tourism sectors, including the public, to aid its mobilization process for building the required synergy capable of driving a fast growing tourism sector.

He opined that the idea of the Tourism Merit Award is to honour significant contributions to tourism development in the last 50 years, so that those found eminently qualified would take their rightful places in the Tourism Hall of Fame.
