The Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi (FUAM) has received N450 million grant from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to boost poultry production in the North Central region of the country.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Richard Kimbir, made the disclosure in Makurdi as part of activities to mark his third year heading the institution.
Kimbir said that the institution was the only university selected in the north central for the poultry programme by CBN after keen competition.
He noted that already a committee to include the university’s council and UN Global among other relevant members had been constituted to ensure the judicious use of the money, stressing that the states in north central as well as Taraba would be sufficiently fed with poultry products as production commences.
