Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has said his administration will rely on the power of prayer rather than “instruments of war” as it navigates governance in 2026.

Fubara made the declaration in his New Year message delivered during the crossover service at the Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace in Port Harcourt.

Speaking amid ongoing political tensions involving his estranged godfather and members of the State House of Assembly, the governor stressed that trust in God remains central to his leadership philosophy, insisting that those who put their faith in God would not be put to shame.

Reaffirming his commitment to lead the state on the foundations of faith, perseverance and genuine service, Fubara urged residents to look forward to improved fortunes in 2026, noting that his administration was entering the new year with renewed confidence and strong spiritual conviction.

Reflecting on the past two years of his tenure, the governor acknowledged that the period had been characterised by intense political challenges, but said the government remained focused and hopeful.

“Despite everything, we are moving into 2026 with hope and strong spiritual conviction. My administration is not relying on the instruments of war, but on the power of prayer, because those who put their trust in God will not be put to shame,” he said.

Governor Fubara also called on the people of Rivers State to remain calm and not be unsettled by rumours or speculations of conflict, assuring them that his government remains committed to safeguarding peace, stability and the collective interest of the state.

He admitted that some public expectations had not been fully met in the last two years but expressed optimism that the new year would bring renewed progress and accelerated development across Rivers State.

In addition, the governor voiced confidence in Nigeria’s political future, stating that Bola Ahmed Tinubu would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
