The United Action Front of Nigeria Civil Society comprising prominent activists in the country and leaders of the National Consultative Front, Free Nigeria Movement, Citizens Action Movement, Country First Movement, Citizens Unite For Democracy, EndSARS Youths Movement, among others, have insisted on going ahead with mass protests over the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

The mass movements demanded a reversal of the hike in petrol pump prices, saying failure to do so, they would go ahead with the planned mass protests.

They gave the government till the close of work today to accede to their protest.

The activists spoke after an emergency consultative meeting of key leaders and activists in Lagos, saying the suspension of strike by the labour unions would not hinder them.

Veteran Wale Okunniyi in a statement on behalf of the United Action Front of Civil Society called on all concerned and affected Nigerians to come out and join nationwide mass protests in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja.

They expressed dissatisfaction with the ways families and households in the country “have been suddenly plunged into mass impoverishment and sufferings through the gestapo hike of petrol pump prices by the government.”
