Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has nominated caretaker chairmen for the 23 local government areas of the state.
The tenure of the former chairmen, who are loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, elapsed on Monday.
However, there has been crisis in the state as the chairmen attempted to continue in office on the grounds that the Pro-Wike faction of Rivers House of Assembly extended their tenure by six months over the failure of Fubara to conduct elections.
But the governor directed them to hand over power to Heads of Administration, whom he asked to await further directives.
Fubara has transmitted a list of caretaker to the Assembly faction loyal to him.
Subsequently, House, G.M. Gillis-West, Clerk of the assembly led by Victor Jumbo, invited the nominees for screening on Wednesday.
