Funding is Uyo teaching hospital’s problem – Chairman

The Board Chairman of the University of Uyo Teaching hospital (UUTH), Senator Salihu H. Egye, has said one of the key problems plaguing the institution is funding.

Speaking yesterday in Uyo during an inspection of the facility, he said poor funding was responsible for the infrastructural decay and shortfalls experienced in the provision of equipment as well as training of medical personnel.

He said however that despite the limitations, the Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Isaac Udoh had done much to improve the hospital.

Reacting to the visit of the UUTH board members to the community leaders, Clan Head of Oku, Etebom Dr. Enefiok Effiong said the community had been very accommodating of the hospital.
