Funke Akindele endorses rail travel after Abeokuta ride

Popular Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has endorsed rail transport following a special train ride organised by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) from Lagos to Abeokuta.

The actress, who travelled with members of her team on April 18, was received at the Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta, by the Lagos District Manager, Engr. Rasheed Adedeji, alongside other senior officials of the corporation.

She was hosted in the corporation’s conference coach, where she experienced the services on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor.

The journey proceeded without disruption, with NRC officials highlighting onboard comfort and operational efficiency.

Speaking during the trip, Akindele described the experience as smooth and well-organised, noting that it reflects the growing viability of rail transport for inter-city travel.

On arrival in Abeokuta, the actress was received by an enthusiastic crowd of admirers at the station, where she interacted with fans and took photographs.

She urged Nigerians to embrace rail transport, citing its safety and convenience, and expressed optimism about ongoing improvements in the sector.

The NRC said the engagement forms part of efforts to build public confidence in rail services through strategic partnerships with prominent public figures.

The corporation added that it remains focused on improving service delivery and expanding rail transport as a reliable option for mobility, with rising patronage across its corridors reflecting increasing public acceptance.
