Mr Olona Oluwapelumi, alias Black, a third year industrial design student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has hung himself in his off-campus lodge in Akure, Ondo State.
It was gathered that his friends went to his apartment in the early hours of Saturday and found the door locked and after several phone calls without response they broke in and found him his body dangling from a rope.
His friend who spoke anonimosly said that the suicide might be connected to depression and financial constraint.
His neighbours said that Joseph was a jovial and friendly man who never entered into arguments or fought with anyone.

A neighbour disclosed that it was discovered that the Facebook page of the deceased, who was an entrepreneur and made designer wears with the brand name: “Tart Angle”, contained a post about suicide, noting that several of his posts contained messages seeking financial help to enable him run his business.
The neighbor further said, “On October 8, 2022, his Facebook post read: “Suicide kinda answers all; it’s the only thing that listens and trusts you when you left all to yourself. Good night and goodbye.”
Meanwhile, FUTA authorities have yet to make an official statement on the student’s death.
The spokesperson of the police command in Ondo, SP Funmi Odunlami-Omisanya, said that the corpse had been deposited at a mortuary while investigation into the death would soon start. (NAN)
