Students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure FUTA, yesterday protested the death of a 200-level student, Adeyinka Daniel who died in a motor accident on Monday night in Akure.
The students, who shut the school gate, also barricaded Akure–Ilesa expressway leading to disruption to free flow of traffic.
The deceased and some other students were said to have been involved in an accident at Catholic Cathedral area of Oba Adesida Road in the sunshine state capital.
While others sustained various degrees of injuries, Daniel died.
Some of the students said that the death of the student could have been avoided if the security guards at the gate had allowed the victim to be rushed in on time and promptly attended to at the university’s health centre.
But the management of the school, in a statement signed by Mr Richard Arifalo, deny any complicity while ordering an immediate review of the incident in order to ascertain the circumstances leading to it
