The Students Independent Electoral Committee (ISEC) screened the aspirants with the result of the screening exercise published on September 16, 2014.
Twenty-four contestants emerged from the exercise while nine were dropped.
A night before the election saw the presentation of manifesto by contestants. Students came out in great numbers and gathered in front of Hall C (female hostel) to witness the great show. All the successfully screened aspirants came out to display their talents.
The election took place on September 17, 2014, through e-voting system. Students of the institution assembled at their departments while the exercise was started around 1p.m. Members of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) were also voted into office that day.
The results were announced the next day. However, the post of the president was announced two days after the election. Eleven SUG officials and 44 SRC’s emerged as winners.
Members of the union’s executive council include Onochie David, President, Chukwu Purity, Vice-President, Anusiem Prince, Secretary General, Njoku Jane, Assistant Secretary General, Nwadialor Henry, Financial Secretary, Nriaka Frances, Treasurer, Osita Eva, Public Relations Officer, Chima Austin, Well fare , Utonwa Michael, Director of Transport, Olum Sunday, Director of Socials, Nnajiofor Fabian, Director of Sports.
