In a statement at the end of its 145th extra-ordinary meeting, the council said the disruption has affected every facet of academic proceedings at the school.
Council chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Enemuo said since the start of the strike, the council made efforts to dialogue with ASUU at FUTO and the union’s national body with an appeal for a suspension but to no avail.
Enemuo, flanked at the meeting by the FUTO vice chancellor, Prof Chigozie Asiabaka, members of the senate and the council, described it as unfortunate for the continued stay at home by the students.
He said that already the institution has concluded its admission process of new intake for next session but regretted the possibility of commencing their academic studies.
He said that federal government has demonstrated strong commitment in addressing the most contentious issue by approving the release of initial N130b to Nigerian universities.
Enemuo urged ASUU to reciprocate the gesture of the federal government by calling off the strike and return to classroom in interest of our children and the universities system.
