He noted that the renewed commitment was to bring back the spirit of hard work and competitiveness that initially characterised students trained in FUTO.
Speaking at the senate meeting, Asiabaka said that the administration has put in place measures to ensure that only students that have the mental capacity to cope with the academic rigor of the university are retained.
He explained that most heads of department have failed to implement this policy to the letter and have allowed students who have CGPA of less than 1.0 to continue registration of courses without any caution from the department.
“The restoration of a credible admission process by management has raised the academic standard and would eventually culminate to producing quality graduates in the near future,” he said.
He urged deans and heads of department to put in place measures that would weed out the deficient students from the system once their deficiencies are detected.
