“The future of this country will be so bleak for the male child,” said Felicia Onyeabo, president of NCCWO at a press conference to commission its new school, Cor Mariae College for Boys, in Abuja.
Cor Mariae was first conceived as a girls’ college, but that changed last year after the council considered that “the boy child had been neglected and marginalised for a long time, especially as the girl-child continues to get all the consideration, attention and promotion,” said Onyeabo.
She called for the country to concentrate on training the kind of boys who will occupy positions in future, not “disgruntled youths that the system has offered nothing to.”
Cor Mariae, expected to start in October, will place students in its 400-capacity dormitories completely under the administration of renowned Catholic school administrators, Holy Ghost Fathers.
