The Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) has conferred His Excellency Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State with an accolade on Thursday 23rd of November, 2017.

Since assuming office, Gaidam made healthcare delivery one of his top priority, in other to provide conducive environment for service deliverance, Governor Gaidam renovated and equipping various Hospitals in the state which includes; General Hospital in Damagum, Jakusko, Dapchi and Buni Yadi although that of Buni Yadi is procrastinate due to the activity of insurgency in the area. The other three hospitals that cost at about N2bn are in Potiskum, Gashua and Gaidam. 

The 200 Bed Ultra-Modern Hospital in Damaturu now Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH) the only owned teaching hospital owned by State Government in the entire Northeastern region of Nigeria was equipped with the latest modern medical equipment, with a diagnostic facilities like 1.5 Teslar MRI machine which is not found in teaching hospitals in the country and 65 Slide CT scan which is only found in few places in Nigeria. Governor Gaidam also procured modern hospital facilities in other to ease and decreased the numbers of Yobe citizenry to other teaching hospital in the country or abroad. The level of manpower in hospitals in the state has drastically increased since the assumption of the current regime.

Sir, this award by SOGON stands proudly for your hard work by reducing the ratio of maternal deaths under your leadership, dedication, fearless and serving the humanity also play key role in delivering SOGON accolades to the Sahel state. With no doubt Yobe citizens both at home and in diaspora are happy for you, your Excellency.

As you succeed in your primary assignment as the chief executive of the state, the award is for meeting SOGON’s prerequisite for the honour. I wish many more accolades in your life, God willing with the way you are transforming Yobe State into a modern and attractive tourist’s destination, more awards are coming your way in the near future.
