The governor directed the ministry of housing to immediately implement the discount he had long approved, saying he has received reports that despite the announcement of the subsidy by government, the ministry was yet to ensure full implementation of the package.
Kanem Trust reports that the state governor had last year, directed the sale of over 3,000 houses built by Bukar Abba Ibrahim’s regime in 2006. The houses were to be sold to civil servants and other interested buyers at 50 percent discount.
Gaidam commissioned some projects executed by the Gujba Local Government and said council chairmen will be monitored closely in order to assess their performance based on the funds being released to them.
