Speaking to Feverpitch yesterday, Galadima who is widely respected for his principles said the NPL has suffered enough distractions and so all hands must be on deck to salvage what is left of the domestic league.

He was speaking especially on the efforts being made by the present leadership of the NPL to bring to an end the ongoing season which is clearly the longest in the history of Nigerian league.

Galadima said the most important thing is to try and recover the time that has been lost due to the lingering crises that have bedeviled the league.

According to him, the domestic league is supposed to be the bedrock of the country’s national teams and if nothing is done to make it work, the country would continue to suffer losses.

“I also want to join other Nigerians who feel the Nigeria Premier League has suffered enough troubles and should be allowed to function properly. I know few things may not be in order but for the sake of the league, let there be peace.

“It is time for all hands to be on deck to salvage what is left of the league. The 2010/2011 season should have been history by now but the season is yet to end because of crises. We cannot continue like this. If the league is not organized, the country’s national teams would continue to suffer”.

Galadima therefore expressed hope that NPL’s effort to play the remaining matches of the season beginning from next weekend is a step in the right direction as he said it is only when the current season ends that the league organizers would have enough time to look at the next season.

He however advised that the mistakes which led to the problems that have brought the league on its knees should be avoided in future.

“We must learn to do things in the most orderly manner. Those who want Nigerian football to grow should be willing to make sacrifice. Saving our football is a collective responsibility”, he advised.
